Stefano Boeri’s ‘Bosco Verticale’ (Vertical Forest) in Milan offers forest views, at altitude!

Ok, so it’s not from the new Star Wars movie, but it looks like something straight out of a science fiction film. Stefano Boeri’s Bosco Vertical – Vertical Forest – towers over Milan’s city skyline and is one of the world’s first forest in the sky apartment blocks, complete with a living space that is also your garden.

Bosco was named ‘The Best Tall Building Worldwide’ in 2015 by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBHU) at the 14th annual awards in Chicago. With trees equal to one hectare of forest spanning 27 floors, these green towers are home to an astonishing 900 trees, 2000 shrubs and plants.

The Mountain Forest Hotel in the Wanfeng Valley, China, is the next project on the horizon for Mr Boeri. It will be built as a vertical forest resembling a mountain scape that originally existed at the site.

It certainly raises the question on who would insure this type of risk?  Fortunately, as part of Arthur J. Gallagher, one of the largest insurance brokers in the world, we’re able to quote on 95% of enquiries*.

As always, whether you live in a block of standard or non-standard construction, have a vertical forest or wind farm on your roof top, be sure to disclose all the details.  That way, we can ensure your risks are  covered and, in the event of a loss, we’ll help make everything right again.
